Azimio NDC open to those willing to attend, says Raila

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has affirmed that Saturday’s Azimio National Delegates Convention (NDC) is only for those who wish to attend.

He stated that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, as well as his One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals, are welcome to join the NDC if they want to be a part of the Azimio movement. Following a meeting with a group of Murang’a leaders in Nairobi, the former premier stated unequivocally that the Azimio Convention is open to all who wish to participate.

“If you feel you’re being forced, don’t come. Nobody is being forced into Azimio. It’s a coalition of the willing. The meeting is open to all those who are willing. I will deal with those who are willing to work with us,” he said.

Leaders of the Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) have also asked Musyoka to join the Azimio la Umoja alliance without issuing too many demands.

The leaders, led by Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, chastised Musyoka on Wednesday for “not making the right decision in 2007” and urged him to make up his mind and join Azimio.

“We welcome you to Azimio, but don’t expect us to make too many demands,” Wamalwa stated.

Ahead of the Saturday event, the ODM boss has lined up a series of campaign rallies beginning today in Samburu County, Wajir on Wednesday, Meru on Thursday and Kisumu on Friday before the coronation on Saturday.

ODM, Jubilee, Party of National Unity (PNU), Ubuntu People’s Forum (UPF), Devolution Empowerment Party (Mbus), National Ordinary People Empowered Union (NOPEU), Kenya Union Party (KUP), Pan African Alliance (PAA), Democratic Action Party (DAP), National Rainbow Coalition (NARC), Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCCP), Frontier Alliance Party, Economic Freedom Party and Kenya Patriotic Party (KPP) are among those that are supporting Azimio.
