Industrialisation CS Maina, KNCCI Boss Ngatia and UAE- Kenya Trade Center Chairman hold talks ahead of Dubai Exhibition Week

Trade and Industrialisation Cabinet Secretary Betty Maina has this morning held talks with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Richard Ngatia alongside Walid Alfalahi, the UAE -Kenya Trade Centre Chairman ahead of the upcoming Dubai Week slated for February 15-21 and the Dubai Gulf Food Exhibition scheduled for February 21-25.

The CS affirmed of Ministry support to KNCCI as they prepare for the upcoming Dubai Week and the Dubai Gulf Food Exhibition in February 2021.

The Ministry seeks to promote market access for Kenyan brands and products in the UAE and Gulf region and will closely work with KNCCI and the UAE Trade Centre in Kenya to bolster trade between the two countries.

The CS is also set to be the chief guest during the Launch of the Chamber Office in Sharjah scheduled for February 2021.

“Held talks with the Kenya Chamber President Mr. Richard Ngatia, together with Mr. Walid Alfalahi, UAE -Kenya Trade Centre Chairman. The Ministry will support KNCCI as they prepare for the upcoming Dubai Week and the Dubai Gulf Food Exhibition in February 2021.”

“The Ministry seeks to promote market access for Kenyan brands and products in the UAE and Gulf region and will closely work with KNCCI and the UAE Trade Centre in Kenya to bolster trade between the two countries.” Maina said.

On his part, Ngatia exuded confidence of Kenya’s business community commitment through the chamber to harness the existing external business opportunities and at the same time secure markets for Kenya products and services abroad.

“The Ministry will closely work with KNCCI and the UAE Trade Centre in Kenya to see the implementation of trade MoU between the two regions and to promote market access for Kenyan brands and products in the UAE and Gulf region”. Ngatia affirmed.

During his tenure, Ngatia has promoted chamber’s international agenda and economic diplomacy, implemented various projects and programs across the counties and improved service delivery and enhanced the membership base of the chamber.

For instance in November last year, Ngatia signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry to open a satellite trade office in the United Arab Emirates.

The agreement will enable and provide strategic bilateral cooperation between the business communities in Kenya and UAE with an objective to foster cooperation in trade, investment, joint activities, information and trade policy support programmes.
