One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals have today signed a new coalition pact with NARC-Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua after the exit of Amani National Congress and Ford Kenya parties.
Wiper part leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Kanu’s leader Gideon Moi and United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Cyrus Jirongo welcomed Karua with Moi stating that the alliance was only open to honest engagements with other political formations which share our ideology.
“We want to formally incorporate all the constituent political parties into OKA alliance. Signing the deed of assignment is an affirmation of our commitment to standing firm together and focus securing the lives of Kenyans,” he said.
Through a joint statement, the leaders said the agreement will be officially deposited with the Registrar of Political Parties on February 28, 2022.
The principals noted that the coalition is still open to partnerships with like-minded leaders, adding that 10 other political parties have expressed interest in joining the One Kenya Alliance.
“As of today, 10 other political parties have expressed interest in joining the Coalition. This is because we believe that the diversity of our nation calls for heterogeneity of minds and ideas to effect impactful change. However, those not aligned with these values are likely to eventually fall by the wayside,” they added.
Further, Kalonzo denied reports that OKA could join the Orange Democratic Movement-led Azimio Movement.
“Other political parties are free to join our alliance, not the way around,” he said.
Musyoka dismissed the notion of the alliance ever joining ‘Kenya Kwanza’ alliance terming it as “that is finished Kenya”.
Karua threw a spanner in the works when she hinted at the possibility of taking on a national role in the upcoming election saying the details would be made public in the next six weeks.
She revealed that OKA will settle on and announce their preferred presidential flag bearer in a decision that will take many by surprise.
The Narc-Kenya party leader has so far graced rallies at Machakos Town and in Kirinyaga County.
