Mount Kenya University (MKU) Chairman Professor Simon Gicharu has welcomed the placement of some of the best students in 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations to the University.
According to data released by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) MKU received thirteen students who scored a mean grade of A.
Gicharu said that the thirteen students will pursue degree courses.
“MKU continues to attract a huge number of both government and self-sponsored students pursuing Health Sciences, Liberal Arts and Research as well as other courses,” he said.
He said the university continues to grow in leaps and bounds and the placement by KUCCPS is prove of its status in the Country.
According to Gicharu, the varsity offers marketable courses which gives the learners the options to choose their interests and they also have the best medical and technical courses.
The university has accredited 164 academic programmes, with 14 different schools.
In the placement announced by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, a total of 128, 073 were placed to persue degree courses while 193,949 will pursue Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Tvet) programmes.
University of Nairobi got 892 grade A students followed by Jomo Kenyatta University and Technology which got 175 and Kenyatta University where 113 students were placed.
Moi University got 71 A students, Egerton University 49, Technical University of Kenya 27, Kenya Methodist 13, Maseno University 22, Kabarak 5, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology 9, Kisii University 8, Uzima University 8 and Dedan Kimanthi University got nine students.
