Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga has called for justice for Embu brothers who lost their lives at the hands of police officers from Manyatta Police Station in Embu County.
Benson Njiru Ndwiga and Emmanuel Mutura Ndwiga had been arrested for allegedly flouting curfew hours and later found dead under unclear circumstances.
In his twitter account, Raila said that no parent should ever go through the torment the Ndwigas are undergoing.
“If the criminal justice system ever works, it must for this family. I join and endorse the call for #JusticeForKianjokomaBrothers,” he tweeted.
He condoleled with the Ndwiga family who burried their sons today.
“To the Ndwiga family that has sadly had to bury their sons Emmanuel and Benson today, my sincere condolences. My prayers go to their mother Catherine Wawira. I stand with you in this grief as a parent,” he said.
Mourners turned up to witness the burial of the two brothers in the funeral service that took place at Kianjokoma primary school.
The two were laid to rest at their father’s farm in Kithangari Kianjokoma in Embu North.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i on Wednesday met the parents of the two brothers and assured them justice will prevail.
The government has since transferred two Senior officers from the Manyatta police station where the police officers who arrested the duo came from.
Njiru was a student at Kabarak University. His brother Mutura studied at Don Bosco Technology Training Institute in Karen, Nairobi.
