The Independent and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has declared Francis Muraya Githaiga of United Democratic Party(UDA) as the elected Member of County Assembly(MCA) of Rurii ward in Nyandarua County.
Deputy President William Ruto congratulated the party for a sterling performance against all odds.
“We thank God for Hustler nation Victory in Juja and Rurii and the Awesome show in Bonchari. A big Congratulations to all our hustler Teams for a sterling Performance against all odds. Hongera our competitors, let’s keep it Issue Based and Pull together. Now we plan the economy with the Big4 (Sasa tupange uchumi na Big4),” he tweeted.
UDA claimed that some of its agents had been arrested by the police during the by-election.
She added that the party agents had been harassed and intimidated by the police across the ward.
She said that police had mounted unnecessary roadblocks across the ward, which according to her, intimidated voters.
The two parties asked IEBC to take note of the intimidations and condemn them.
The leaders however commended the Ward residents for turning out in large numbers to cast their votes.
