The current Health Ministry protocols require that all people who die from Covid-19 to be buried within 72 hours of death.
The Ag. Director General for Health Dr Patrick Amoth said that there are hospitals holding bodies of deceased persons who died from Covid-19.
“It is the instruction of the ministry of health that any person who has passed on as a result of Coviid-19 disease the bodies must be expeditiously released for burial in accordance with the burial protocols,” he said.
The Ministry of Health CAS Dr. Mercy Mwangangi also warned against the marketing of the vaccine in the country.
She noted that despite the approval of Sputnik V vaccine by Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), all the parties involved in the distribution are yet to be submitted to the board.
“What this means is that the vaccine has therefore not received all the necessary regulatory approvals for use in the country. No vaccines are available for sale in the country as none has received market authorization,” she added.
According to Mwangangi, the Ministry also intend to partner with the private sector but stringently regulate them.
“Eventually all vaccines that meet our regulatory requirements will be in use in Kenya,” she said.
