Former manager of the young acrobat Wendy Waeni was yesterday afternoon arrested three days after dragnet by Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers.
Joseph Mwangi Nduta, alias Joe Mwangi was seized upon being declared a wanted person by the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti.
He was interrogated at the Nairobi County DCI offices till late in the evening.
“We are interrogating him. He has a case to answer.” A senior DCI officer said.
By yesterday evening, he was still in police grilling room ahead of being arraigned in today morning.
Joe is accused of authoring a forged threatening letter addressed to Wendy’s mother Magdalene Mbele.
“Mr Joseph Mwangi Nduta alias Joe whose photos appear below is wanted by DCI detectives in connection with the forgery of a letter purporting to be from a Cabinet Secretary threatening the complainant- Magdalene Mbele of some consequences,” the DCI said through a public social media communication page.
Wendy caught the attention of the public after revealing that Joe was swindling her from shows she has been performing both locally and internationally.
Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo termed Wendy’s confession as a criminal complaint against Joe.
“This picture was taken by Joe Mwangi in my office.
The statement by Wendy on JKL yesterday is a criminal complaint.” Mutula said after Wendy made disturbing assertions during an interview on Citizen TV early last month.
Responding on social media, Joe denied claims that he had been travelling with Wendy during world tours.
He claimed there are interested parties who are out to malign him.
