Renowned University of Nairobi (UoN) don and linguistics professor Duncan Okoth Okombo is dead.
Prof Okombo, 67, passed on on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
“Dear colleagues, we are sad to inform you that Prof Okoth left us today to be with his maker. Our hearts go out to his family, students, colleagues and friends. May God grant his soul peace everlasting,” Prof Peter Wasamba, Dean, Faculty of Arts, said in a message to UoN staff.
Okombo was a professor of Linguistics and Communication Skills at the Department of Linguistics and Literature at the University of Nairobi.
He had a doctorate in linguistics and African languages, a master’s in linguistics and African languages and Bachelor’s degree in linguistics from the University of Nairobi.
