Ugandan man who filmed himself defiling a teenage girl on TikTok arrested in Kampala
Police in Uganda have arrested a man who filmed himself sexually molesting a teenage girl at a suspected lodging and uploading the gory video footage on highly abused and largely unregulated TikTok social media platform.
Media reports indicate that Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed Joseph Ngoma allegedly committed the act in an establishment in the Mubende District.
Ngoma was later apprehended in Kitintale, Kampala while in hiding.
Preliminary findings by investigative authorities in Uganda show the suspect left home aboard Ngoma’s boda boda on May 4, 2023, for coaching when the rider branched off to his home in the pretence of picking some personal items.
“The suspect instead got a room and lured the victim to help him carry some of his properties for him. The victim was forcefully dragged into the lodge, where the suspect recorded her inside, calling her his wife. He went on and defiled the victim and told her to go back home.” The police spokesperson said.
The video went viral and sparked discussion on social media after Ngoma published it on the social media site four days later.
The mother of the victim reportedly saw the gory video being widely circulated on social media and reported the incident to the police.
Enanga added that the lodge attendant has also been detained on suspicion of facilitating defilement. The attendant is being treated as an accessory to the crime.
