The deceased was believed to have been transferred from Kabiru Hospital  within Kawangware area  about 7kms south east of the station

A police woman Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) in Embakasi, Nairobi has died after a botched abortion.

According to a signal from Muthangari Police Station indicates that Winny Zippora Atto, an Administration Police Constable, was rushed to Eagle Hospital at 21am after developing complications where a doctor confirmed that she had aborted.

Two suspects have been arrested for aiding in connection with the incident.

The two, including a driver of the vehicle in which she was found and a nurse at a health facility in Kabiro, were arrested by officers from Muthangari even as investigations into her death continue.

“Two suspects, namely Bruce Matte (facility nurse) and Indombuhai Humphrey (driver), were arrested,” Nairobi Regional Commander George Sedah confirmed.

Reports by the police indicate that the RDU officer had an induced abortion, which led to heavy bleeding, killing her while she was on her way to a private facility where she had been referred to by the officers at Kabiru Health Centre, where she had first visited after the induction.

The officers who visited the scene stated that the deceased was found in a pool of blood inside the car, which was taking her to the hospital before the death occurred.

It was after a thorough investigation by the officers that they discovered the deceased was an RDU officer attached at Embakasi.

The Officer was on leave when the incident occurred.

“NPS officers from Muthangari police station, together with DCI officers from Dagoretti and the Sub County Commander, visited the scene and found the said body inside the said vehicle and in a pool of blood. After a thorough investigation, it was noted that the lady (deceased) might have been induced to effect labour, which called for a visit to the facility (Kabiro Hospital), where it was established that the deceased is a police officer attached to the Rapid Deployment Unit Embakasi and was on leave,” the officers said.
