Teso Professionals Group launches 2025–2030 Strategic Plan, retain officials
The Teso Professionals Group (TPG) has unanimously re-elected its entire executive team for a further two-year term following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on December 27, 2025 at a hotel in, Amagoro, Teso North, Busia County.
The members also unanimously agreed to retain the officials since no member expressed interest in contesting any executive position.
The AGM drew 40 members, both in physical attendance and online.
Members reaffirmed their trust in the executive team, citing stability, accountability, and the tangible progress achieved during the outgoing term as key reasons for continuity in leadership.
A major highlight of the meeting was the official launch of the TPG 2025–2030 Strategic Plan.
While unveiling the plan, TPG Patron Eng. Justus Otwani outlined the group’s long-term vision of building a thriving and impactful community of Teso professionals. He emphasized that the strategy is guided by 11 core values: excellence, collaboration, innovation, integrity, continuous learning, inclusivity, impact-driven focus, a community-centric approach, respect for people, good citizenship, and personal accountability.
Robert Papa who developed strategic plan briefed members on developments within the Ateker regional initiative, led by Special Peace Envoy John Munyes.
The initiative aims to foster peaceful coexistence and socio-cultural integration among cross-border communities, including the Karamojong, Jie, Turkana, Toposa, Nyangatom, Teso, and Lang’o in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, and Ethiopia.
Members were informed that positions within the initiative’s secretariat will soon be filled, with the Iteso community expected to benefit from key appointments, including a deputy envoy position.
In another landmark announcement, Papa confirmed that the government of Kenya has officially recognised the Iteso as a minority tribe. This recognition is expected to open up increased opportunities for employment, leadership, and representation for the community.
To acknowledge commitment and consistency, the group’s patron rewarded members who have faithfully made their monthly contributions by covering their contributions for an entire year.
All executive officials were also recognised for their dedication and service.
The patron further pledged to mobilize members to help clear the group’s outstanding loan balance of Sh1million, enabling TPG to maintain financial stability and refocus on investment opportunities. In support of this effort, Eng. Vincent Sidai pledged Sh100,000 toward loan repayment.
Members also proposed diversifying investment portfolios and establishing regional clusters to enhance engagement and financial growth. With current membership standing at 300, members were encouraged to recruit at least one new member each, with the goal of growing the association to 600 members. Additionally, members were challenged to contribute a minimum of Sh500 or Sh1,000 monthly to significantly boost group savings and investments.
In her closing remarks, the Chairperson Eng. Nancy Oprong thanked members for their continued confidence in the leadership.
He acknowledged the responsibility of leading a professional association composed of highly accomplished individuals and called for sustained unity, support, and commitment as TPG enters its next phase of growth and impact.
