Teen in bizarre siblings killings detained for 14 days
Detectives based in Kikuyu, Kiambu County have been granted 14 days to complete their investigations in a case where a 15-year-old girl confessed to killing her three siblings and a cousin in a confession that stunned the nation.
The investigative sleuths said that the murders occurred on various occasions between mid-last year and this year.
However, the gory crimes were revealed last week after the father of the accused reported to Kikuyu Police Station that he feared his daughter was behind the atrocities.
The minor was apprehended and acknowledged killing her three siblings, ages one year and three months, five years, and seven and a half years.
The teen further admitted to drowning her 20 month old cousin in a well at their house in Gathiga village, Kabete Sub-County.
Kikuyu Principal Magistrate Catherine Mburu gave the prosecution two weeks to compile and complete their investigations.
The prosecution had earlier informed the court that they complicated their investigations but needed more time to determine the reason for the killings and whether other people were involved.
George Muriuki who is the investigative officer informed the court that they may need to exhume the victims’ bodies to determine the exact cause of death in order to unravel the root cause of the heinous murders.
The juvenile will also be subjected to a mental examination to determine her fitness to stand trial. She will be confined at the Kabete Children’s Remand Home until the matter is heard on September 12, 2022.
