Team Kenya dominates EAC inter-parliamentary games in Kampala
Team Kenya delivered a powerful and well-coordinated performance at the 2025 East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games (EAC-IPG) held in Kampala, emerging as one of the standout delegations across multiple disciplines.
With gold medals in athletics, volleyball, tug of war, darts and golf, and several silver finishes in team sports, Kenya underlined its growing depth and competitiveness in regional parliamentary sports
In men’s athletics, Kenya stamped its authority by topping the medal table with an impressive haul of five gold, three silver and four bronze medals, amassing 41 points to finish first overall. Uganda followed in second place with 26 points, while Rwanda and the EALA team trailed behind.
The strong showing reaffirmed Kenya’s long-standing dominance on the track and field at regional competitions
Kenya’s success extended to men’s volleyball, where the team produced a flawless campaign, winning all three matches to collect nine points and clinch gold ahead of Rwanda and hosts Uganda.
The team combined tactical discipline with consistency to outclass their opponents throughout the round-robin competition
In tug of war, Kenya proved unbeatable. The women’s team went unbeaten, recording three wins from three matches to secure gold with nine points, while the men’s team also emerged victorious in their contest against Uganda.
The results highlighted Kenya’s strength and coordination in the power-based discipline
Kenya was equally dominant in darts, particularly in the men’s category. The men’s singles team topped the standings with 10 wins from 11 matches, collecting 30 points to finish first ahead of Uganda and South Sudan.
The men’s doubles team also secured gold, adding to Kenya’s growing medal tally in precision sports
On the greens, Kenya shone in men’s golf, finishing first with 301 points, comfortably ahead of Uganda and Rwanda.
The strong performance reflected consistency across the team and effective course management throughout the championship
While Kenya dominated several events, it also recorded a series of silver-medal finishes, underlining competitiveness across the board.
In women’s athletics, Kenya placed second overall with one gold, three silver and three bronze medals, finishing behind a strong Ugandan team.
Silver medals were also secured in netball, women’s volleyball, football, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s darts singles, and women’s golf, where Kenya finished second with 167 points behind Uganda.
The blend of gold-winning dominance and consistent podium finishes positions Kenya as a leading force in EAC parliamentary sports, setting a strong benchmark ahead of future editions of the Games.
