Six candidates shortlisted for KNCHR chairperson’s job
The interviews will take place on the 12th floor boardroom at Harambee House on May 27
Six candidates have been shortlisted for the position of chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) as the recruitment exercise gets into the final stage.
The shortlisting was announced trough a notice in the local dailies by the selection panel chairperson Dr Irene Asienga.
Those shortlisted are Selina Amsugut Iseme, Claris Awour Ogangah, Edward Katama Ngeywa, Duncan Oburu Ojwang and Michael Peter Otieno Okelloh.
They were selected from a total of 17 applicants.
The interviews will take place on the 12th floor boardroom at Harambee House, Nairobi on May 27 and the candidates have been asked to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before their appointed time.
The candidates have been asked to carry a valid National ID or passport, academic and professional certificates, transcripts, and any supporting documents.They must also submit clearance documents from the Higher Education Loans Board, Kenya Revenue Authority, Credit Reference Bureau, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
A stamped self-declaration form from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is also required, along with a recommendation letter from any relevant professional body, where applicable.
Asienga warned against attempts to influence the process as she added that it would lead to automatic cancellation.
“Canvassing for this position will lead to automatic disqualification,” Asienga said.
Further, she invited the public to provide input on the candidates through affidavits.
“Members of the public are invited to avail any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates (through affidavits) to the Chairperson, Selection Panel for the Nominees for Appointment as Chairperson, Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, Harambee House 12th Floor Boardroom, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi or e-mailed to [email protected] to be received on or before 5.00 pm May 26, 2025,” the notice said.
The seeking of the next KNHCR chairperson comes after the passing of Roseline Odede early this year after a short illness.
KNHCR vice chairperson Raymond Nyeris has been acting as the chair.
