Lindah Kiome to be vetted on Thursday for Meru DG position
She was Mithika Linturi's running mate during the contest for Meru governor in the 2022 elections
Lawyer Lindah Gakii Kiome will on Thursday face the Meru County Assembly for vetting as the next deputy governor of Meru County.
In a notice published in the local dailies, the County Assembly of Meru invited her to appear before the committee at 10am.
“According to the Provisions of Article 196 of the Constitution, Section (8) (1) (a) of the County Governments Act and Standing Order number 46 (3) of the County Assembly of Meru, notice is hereby given for the information of the public and the nominee that the Select Committee on Appointments shall vet Lindah Gakii Kiome who has been nominated for the position of the Deputy Governor in line with Provisions of the County Governments Act, 2012 on Thursday at 10 am within the County Assembly Precincts,” the notice stated in part.
Kiemi is required to obtain clearance certificates from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Certificate, the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Higher Education Loans Board, the Credit Reference Bureau and the accreditation from the Commission of University Education for foreign degrees among other relevant professional accreditations.
She has also been asked to carry her National Identification Card and other relevant testimonials, together with her academic certificates.
The Assembly invited members of the public to submit any relevant information regarding the candidate that would be helpful during the vetting before tomorrow through the office of the clerk of the Meru County Assembly.
She was nominated to the position of the Meru DG while sitting in the selection panel, which has, however, since ended its mandate.
Her nomination was done by Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma, days after his swearing in as the fourth governor of Meru following the court ruling that affirmed Kawira Mwangaza’s impeachment.
The legality of her nomination was, however, at one time challenged on account of her being the vice-chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel.
