Stop campaigning and implement two thirds rule, MPs told
Narok Women Representative Soipan Kudate has called on parliamentarians to halt their campaigns and implement the two thirds gender rule as per the constitution.
Speaking at Ntimama secondary school in Enengetia, Narok North Constituency, Soipan lauded the Judiciary for ruling that parliament should be dissolved if it fails to implement the two thirds rule within 60 days.
She noted that the implementation is possible within the 60 day period as there are three drafts including the Chief justice draft , Kenya Women Parliamentarians draft and Majority Leader Aden Duale draft that can be worked on to ensure that the two third rule is implemented as per the constitution.
Soipan lamented that it was unfair for the male counterparts who have always showcased laxity in the implementation process adding that women have been under represented.
Meanwhile the women representative lauded CS for Finance Henry Rotich for having set aside 4.1 billion for fertilizer and agriculture noting that wheat farmers will greatly benefit from the 2017/18 budget.
