Super Metro suspends crew after death of a passenger thrown out over Sh30

Super Metro has announced the suspension of the crew in charge of the bus where a passenger died on the spot after he was thrown out of a moving Matatu due to differences over the lack of the full amount of fare.

In a statement to the press, the company said it would cooperate with the investigating authorities to ensure justice is served.

“We do not condone reckless behavior, and as a precautionary measure, the crew involved in this incident has been suspended pending further investigation. We will fully cooperate with authorities to ensure justice is served,” they said in the statement.

The Sacco was forced to release a statement following an outcry by the public as the affirmed that investigations are on.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident involving one of the buses operating under our company’s name. They added that strict measures shall be put in place to ensure such incidences do not repeat.

The incident, reported yesterday, sparked public outrage, prompting the company to address the matter as investigations continue.

According to witnesses, the young man who lost his life was thrown out by the conductor of the bus after they disagreed.

Reports indicate that the deceased was thrown out by the bus crew for lack of Ksh 30 to add to the Ksh 50 to get the required Ksh 80.

The man’s pleas fell on deaf ears with the tout proceeding to open the door and throw him out of the fast-moving bus.

He died on the spot with a postmortem revealing the man succumbed after breaking all his legs, ribs, and hands.
