Six killed after lorry ploughs into pedestrians, boda boda riders at Kipsitet along Kericho-Kisumu highway

Six people have so far been massacred following last night accident at Kipsitet area along the Kericho–Kisumu highway where a lorry ferrying scrap metal veered off the road ploughing into pedestrians and boda boda riders who were waiting for transport at a bus stage.

Six people died on the spot while four others sustained multiple deep and soft tissue injuries.

The injured were rushed to Kericho County Referral Hospital, while the bodies were also moved to the same hospital mortuary.

The wreckage was towed to the Kipsitet Police Station.

According to eye witnesses, the lorry was heading towards Kisumu when its driver lost control and rammed into the pedestrians and boda boda riders at Kipsitet stage.

The lorry is said to have ran over most of the victims before crashing into some, killing six on the spot and injuring the others.

Police have launched investigations into the incident and urged drivers to exercise caution, particularly at night along busy highways.
