Shujaa upbeat ahead of Toulouse leg
Kenya sevens rugby national team is upbeat ahead of the Toulouse leg this weekend.
Shujaa are set to renew their rivalry with Fiji when they face off against the Tokyo Olympic champions in a group B encounter.
Shujaa who are coached by newly appointed Damian McGrath will also face France and Wales in group B encounters.
The Toulouse 7s will be staged at The Stade Ernest-Wallon which has a capacity of 19,500.
Blak Blad fast rising utility Archadius Khwesa and Ben Salem will debut for Shujaa in the Toulouse and London legs.
The duo, alongside Alvin Otieno, Timothy Mmasi and Johnstone Olindi are the five changes made by McGrath as he seeks to redeem the team from the poor results recorded recently.
However, McGrath has expressed his displeasure with the team’s skills.
McGrath said Shujaa’s style of play had deteriorated and it was difficult to identify what the team was trying to work.
However, he exhibited his commitment to trying to improve the standards of rugby in the country.
“Their Kenya7s skills are poor, I won’t hide from that. The style of play also, it was difficult to see what they were trying to do, but I am hoping that we can make some adjustments. I don’t want to play in a type of way that takes away the strength of Kenyan rugby with the speed, flair and athleticism,” McGrath said.
