Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has castigated National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale over his recent remarks faulting Chief Kadhi Sheikh Ahmed Muhdhar for allegedly “misleading the public on moon sighting.”
While elsewhere in the world, countries like Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and gulf countries announced on Saturday (June 24) that Eid was to be observed on Sunday (June 25, ) back home, Chief Kadhi had issued a statement indicating that the moon was yet to be sighted locally and therefore cautioning Muslims not to hold Eid-Ul-Fitr prayers on Sunday.
But despite the Chief Kadhi’s pronouncement on Saturday a section of Muslims in Country joined their colleagues across the world in marking the end of the Holy month of Ramadhan, on Sunday amid confusion over moon sighting.
A section of the leaders in Narobi accused the Chief Kadhi of misleading Kenyans with his Saturday statement.
