Samidoh hangs up uniform to fully embrace music journey amid claims of political ambition
Mugithi artist Samuel Muchoki, alias Samidoh has officially resigned from the National Police Service after twelve years of service to focus on his career amid speculations that he is eyeing political ambitions in his Nakuru county backyard.
Samidoh’s resignation has been accepted by the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, who said the singer is now free to pursue whatever he wishes.
“He is free to pursue whatever he wishes,” IG Douglas Kanja confirmed the resignation.
In his resignation letter, which happened last month, he cited personal reasons and a desire to fully focus on his music career.
Samidoh’s resignation from the service comes months after the NPS ordered his arrest for deserting duty.
In a circular shared with the Gatumbiro Police Officers, among other security officers, by Kennedy Barasa on behalf of the ASTU Commander, the officers were directed to trace him, arrest him, and share the information that he has been interdicted.
“Muchoki has been absent without leave for more than 10 days, and he is hereby declared a deserter. Pay section stop his salary with immediate effect. Take the necessary action and act accordingly. Stapol Gatumbiro, kindly visit his home and if traced, arrest him and inform this end for necessary action.” Barasa ordered.
According to the circular by ATSU, the Mugithi singer had been given leave for ten days and was to report back to work before the end of last month, but chose to extend the leave without any information.
Barasa explained that efforts to reach him have been futile as his whereabouts have remained unknown, which led to the officer being termed a deserter.
“Please be informed that Muchoki was granted an off-duty and was supposed to report back on
27/05/2025, but he failed. Since then, he has not been seen, and his whereabouts are not known. Efforts to trace him have been futile,” he stated.
The National Police Service has further directed the halting of Samidoh’s salary, as they added that his May Salary was to be paid in part.
Since his transfer to ASTU headquarters in Gilgil, Samidoh had not reported to his new station as netizens shared that his transfer came after the viral video where he was seen performing in a nightclub where revelers were chanting ‘wantam’, a phrase used by opposition leaders in campaigning against the re-election of President William Ruto.
When he came back from the U.S, the courts granted him an anticipatory bail of Sh200,000 barring his arrest.
