Red hot Ryan Ogam emerges top scorer in top tier league

Tusker FC striker Ryan Ogam has hit the road running and is currently leading the golden boot hunt in the 2024/2025 Football Kenya Federation- Premier League with 15 goals.

Even before the season gets to mid-season proper, the 22-year-old lanky attacker formerly of Rainbow FC in the second tier National Super League, is already showing his exploits. For a first timer in the top division, the soft-spoken Ogam is clearly hitting the road running as a clinical poacher.

Ogam is taking it slow and has credited his versatility upfront for his form. “I can play many positions in the attack-line and this has made it easy for me to find spaces and score. I want to take a game at a time and not get carried away. The plan is to win the Championship with Tusker and then anything else will be a plus. My plan was to get 12 goals in the first leg and I have surpassed that so now we look ahead. Of course credit to my teammates and the coaching staff but I am happy to be helping the team,” states the national team sensation that made his debut in the recent Mapinduzi Cup held in Zanzibar.

His Coach Charles Okere believes they youngster can only get better; “I have watched him (Ogam) from the junior ranks and I know what he is capable of. He works hard, he is every bit a team player and gets along well with his colleagues. I like his attitude because he has hunger in his eyes and he wants to get better. He is on form and we are happy with how he is helping us have belief. I am not surprised he has gotten a national call-up because he deserves it,” he says of Ogam who is a huge Manchester United fan.
