PSC bids Ambassador Muchiri farewell ahead of his tour of duty as Kenya’s Ambassador to Türkiye
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has bid farewell to their immediate former commission’s Chairperson as he plans to embark on his tour of duty as Kenya’s Ambassador in Ankara, Türkiye.
On Monday, December 8, 2025, the commission held a luncheon at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete, Nairobi, in Ambassador Muchiri’s honour.
Muchiri has served as PSC Chairperson since December 2021 until his appoint to his current role.
Speaking at the ceremony, PSC Vice Chairperson Mary Kimonye described Muchiri’s departure as a great loss to the commission but a significant gain for the nation, noting that his new ambassadorial appointment reflects the country’s confidence in his leadership.
“Today is a day of mixed emotions. We feel pride in your accomplishments and joy in your new journey, but also sadness in parting with a leader who has left an indelible mark on us. Above all, we feel deep, sincere gratitude,” Kimonye noted.
The Vice Chairperson highlighted Amb. Muchiri’s continental influence, citing his election as President of the Association of African Public Service Commissions (AAPSCOMS) as evidence of his commitment to elevating public service excellence across Africa. She described him as a calm, humble, and unifying leader whose character left a lasting impression on the Commission.
Muchiri, in turn, urged the commission to continue upholding constitutionalism in executing its mandate and to remain steadfast in its course. He reflected on key achievements and expressed confidence in the Commission’s leadership and the team he is leaving behind.
“PSC is a consequential institution that impacts every civil servant and citizen by extension. We must remain focused, resolute, and determined to serve our country,” said Muchiri.
PSC Secretary and CEO Paul Famba lauded Amb. Muchiri for championing reforms that repositioned the public service as dynamic, ethical, and future-ready. He recalled the Chairperson’s call to rekindle patriotism, professionalism, and a renewed “will to serve,” as well as his commitment to staff welfare, modernization, and digital transformation within the commission.
Famba noted that the Secretariat felt empowered under Muchiri’s leadership and remains committed to sustaining the reforms he initiated.
The ceremony concluded with a standing ovation in honour of his exemplary service to the nation.
Also in attendance were the Auditor General and Chairperson of Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices (CCIOs), Nancy Gathungu; PSC Commissioners Harun Hassan, Mwanamaka Mabruki, Boya Molu, Irene Asienga, Francis Owino, Francis Meja, and Joan Machayo; Deputy Commission Secretaries; and the entire Secretariat.
