Police in Kiambu launch manhunt for suspect linked to rape, murder of 62 years old lady
Police in Kiambu county have launched manhunt for a rape and murder suspect who is believed to have sexually molested a 62 years old lady and later murdered her in Ruiru, Kiambu county on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 night.
Preliminary police findings show that the deceased was attacked at dawn on Tuesday while walking along the Ruiru Bridge on her way to work at a coffee farm in Ruiru town from Matangi-ini area.
The attacker is said to have inserted a sharp object in the victim’s private parts that made her to bleed profusely, and later succumbed.
Police findings indicate that the elderly lady succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital, where she had been transferred horrendous attack.
She was first taken to the Ruiru Prison Hospital for first aid before she was referred to Nairobi Women’s Hospital for specialised care.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Homicide Unit have already gathered critical evidence.
The attack comes in the wake of sustained campaign against femicide in the country.
At least 100 femicide cases were reported across the country between August and November 2024.
