Police in Kisumu yesterday arrested 27 youths in Rabuor on the main Kisumu-Nairobi highway.
The youths who were armed with crude weapons had boarded a matatu which was headed to Kisumu.
Nyando police boss Mohammed Amin said they were investigating allegations that the gang was planning to disrupt an ODM rally in Rabuor market which was addressed by Kisumu Senator Prof Anyang; Nyong’o who is vying for Kisumu governor’s seat.
“We received reports that the youths were armed and had boarded the vehicle. The officers trailed the vehicle and stopped it near Rabuaor where the venue of the rally was supposed to be held”.
The Ocpd said the suspects would be arraigned in court today
