Peter Waithaka Macharia, the man behind violent robbery in which Greek national was killed jailed for 35 years
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations indicates that Macharia was involved in a robbery with violence in 2022 which led to the death of a Greek national Angelos Tsekilas.
A notorious robber has been handed a 35-year imprisonment after he was involved in armed robbery.
A statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations indicates that Peter Waithaka Macharia was involved in a robbery with violence in 2022 which led to the death of a Greek national Angelos Tsekilas.
Macharia, who was with accomplices, is accused of shooting Angelos on the chest before stealing his items of unknown value from him.
“During the crime that took place on October 15, 2022, along Menelik Road, Angelos Tsekilas, a Greek national, tragically lost his life after being shot in the chest. The armed gang, consisting of three men, also stole a range of items of unknown value from the victim before taking off on a motorcycle,” the DCI said in its statement.
Macharia was nabbed by detectives from Kilimani police station while at his hideout in Gachie, Kiambu County after a week of investigations.
He was later arraigned in December 2022 at the Kibera law courts where he was charged with robbery with violence.
“Upon processing, Macharia appeared before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Kibera on December 28, 2022, where he was formally charged with robbery with violence under Section 296(2) of the Penal Code,” The DCI explained.
He was found guilty of the accusations following evidence provided by the prosecution and sentenced to 35 years in prison.
“Armed with watertight evidence, the prosecution presented its case before Hon. (Irene Marcia) Kahuya where Macharia earned 35 years behind bars.”
