Nanyuki woman convicted to 40 years in jail for murdering ex-lover
The deceased was also robbed of personal effects, household items and his motor vehicle
The High Court in Nanyuki has convicted Jane Wanjiru Macharia for the murder of George Gachibi Karegwa, which occurred on December 4, 2018.
The court heard that on the night of the incident, the accused, accompanied by two accomplices, unlawfully entered the deceased’s residence, where they murdered him.
The deceased, who was her former lover, was also robbed of personal effects, household items, and his motor vehicle.
During the sentencing hearing, the prosecution, led by Esther Kimani, outlined several aggravating factors.
It was revealed that the accused was already serving three sentences for separate robbery offences and had two other active robbery cases pending before the court.
The prosecution further submitted that the additional robberies were committed while the accused was out on bond in the present murder case, leading to the revocation of her bond.
Although the accused initially denied the charge, she later changed her plea and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
