Maragua Member of Parliament Mary Wamaua claims she was blocked from entering Kasarani Stadium during Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja convention.
Wamaua claims that the event’s security manhandled and barred her from accessing the area set aside for delegates.
She said her VIP invitation card did not help her to get access to the event.
The altercation was caught on video, which went viral on social media.
“It’s very unfortunate that Azimio la Umoja, an event founded on peace and unity, had elements of roughness and disorder,” she said, adding: “I am urging Raila Odinga to rein in on that errant group.”
She similarly urged the venue’s security to exercise humility citing that it was a virtue Kenyans will look at when electing the country’s next president.
“If you can do this right now, how will you act if you (ODM) clinch the presidency next year?” she posed.
Wamaua last month ditched Jubilee Party for Deputy President William Ruto’s party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
