Bungoma governor Lusaka call for Luhya unity ahead of 2027 polls

Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has called for the Luhya unity to consolidate the rich vote bloc into one basket ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.
Speaking during an interdenominational church service and funds drive at Hamisi, Vihiga county today, Lusaka claimed the real population of the larger Western region is not accurately captured in the national census.
His assertions comes in the wake of a High Court ruling that directed census be conducted afresh in Northern Kenya region following a court petition that contested the 2019 census report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).
He spoke today while representing President William Ruto at the event.
“We know in the past we have been placed number two despite our numerical strength but this time round we are upbeat we will be the most populous in the country, ” said Lusaka.
The former Senate Speaker also added that owing to that fact, the Luhya community will play a key role and act as a game changer in the next elections. “Our numbers place us at a strategic position in the Kenyan politics.”
Governor Lusaka called on the Mulembe nation to unite and forge one political stand in order to be respected in the next political arrangements. He said as Western Kenya governors they had already United in supporting President William Ruto and ensuring infrastructure development for the residents.
The governor was optimistic that President Ruto will win the next elections saying the coalition uniting to block his re election bid was very weak. He also added that the president had tried in fixing so many problems that his predecessors were unable.
In the meantime, a section of leaders from the opposition in Western Kenya have urged the Kenya Kwanza government to streamline the new system and funding model of Kenyan education which seemingly has led to confusion among parents and learners alike.
They also pointed that that the education sector needed transparency and funding stability to ensure learners know the system and funding model to follow after joining school.
