Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League sides AFC Leopards and Ulinzi Stars will face off in a friendly match on Sunday afternoon at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The fixture comes on time as the two teams gear up for the new season, with both teams looking forward to a positive start.
Ingwe released a statement confirming that the much-anticipated game will kick off at 3 PM with fans expected to pay Sh 100 to be entertained.
“Kindly lock your calendars on Sunday afternoon. We’ll be playing the soldiers Ulinzi Stars in a pre-season friendly match at Nyayo Stadium. The match kicks off at 3.00pm Gate charges: Sh 100,” read the statement from Ingwe.
The pre-season friendly comes days after Ingwe head coach Patrick Aussem’s returned to head the side after settling issues over pending allowances with the management.
Leopards finished fifth last season and will be aiming to improve on this performance.
His return comes in the wake of the Sports Disputes Tribunal rendering the 2021/2022 league campaign null and void.
This is after the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee was found to have been unconstitutional in conducting its mandate.
Prior to the decision by the Sports Tribunal several local clubs had filed a petition: they include Migori Youth, Gusii FC, Zoo FC, Kisumu AS, and Francis Ngira Vs FKF Transition Committee.
This means no team will be relegated, promoted, or declared the winner.
The latest development means that Tusker FC who successfully defended the league title will be stripped of their 13th title.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee has already confirmed that the Kenya Premier League (KPL) season will commence on August 27, 2022.
This comes just two months after last season’s campaign that saw Tusker Football Club (FC) crowned the champions.
On the other hand, the Kenya Women’s Premier League will kick off on September 3, 2022, as titleholders Vihiga Queens embark on their quest to defend their title while at the same time showcasing their prowess in the lady’s competition.
Vihiga Queens expect equal challengers Ulinzi Starlets to mount up a challenge in their pursuit for a podium finish.
