I have no apologies to make for building church in State House, Ruto says

The cathedral-like building, which was designed by SKair Architects Limited, features twin crosses on its rooftop and tall, narrow clerestory-style windows flanking the central edifice.

While it is already under construction, its completion is not yet clear raising questions on what its fate will be in case the President is not re-elected in 2027 while works are still in progress.

Ruto, who is a staunch Christian and a former of member of the University of Nairobi University Christian Union, had previously told of plans to construct a church as State House, saying it will bigger that the one he build at the Deputy President’s official residence in Karen, which equally attracted criticism.

Some of those who took to social media said the decision was wrong since Kenya is a multi-faith society, which includes Muslims and Hindus as the wondered whether he will also put up a mosque and temple.

In the early days of his presidency, Ruto used to receive religious leaders at State House but their relationship has since soured over unfulfilled promises, including failure to end corruption, reduce the cost of living, create employment for the youth and end extrajudicial killings.
