A day after Polycarp Igathe started his campaign, Richard Ngatia, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president, says that he was still in the race.
Ngatia, who is using the Jubilee party as his political tool, has downplayed talks that Igathe is the President’s favourite for the governor seat.
He insisted that Kenyatta has not named or pinpointed a candidate for the position.
He retaliated against the need for patience, saying that it was too early for anyone to drop their bid.
” I am still in the race until it is determined by the principals, as at now no one has been endorsed,” Ngatia was in a TV interview with s station affiliated with the President.
He further stated that he knew of Igathes’s candidature through social media, and the President is yet to ask him to step down.
He further stated that he had used his own money to popularise the Jubilee party.
“I took a chance on Jubilee Party when it was politically dead. No one wanted to run for an elective seat on Jubilee,” he said.
He further stated that the Commission had validated his degree in University Education, and therefore he meets the threshold for vying for any seat.
Ngatia is optimistic that he will clinch the governorship seat. As for the Westlands Member of Parliament, Tim Wanyonyi, he vowed that he would be on the ballot till the end.
“The #SiMimiNiSisi movement is intact. The journey started 2 years ago. It is 110 days to go. Destination is City Hall,” stated Wanyonyi.
