High technology brings to book Obadia – Forest Road sexual assault mastermind
Obadia, who lives in Mukuru Kaiyaba informal settlement, was positively identified by the DCI using digital forensics with the concerted efforts of cybercrime experts and the DCI National Forensic Laboratory.
The expert placed Obadia at the crime scene and has been positively identified by his wife and other relatives in his rural home.
The DCI almost arrested him but he fled via a sewer duct in the informal settlement.
Others involved in the incident have also been asked to surrender before the police arrests them.
At least 14 suspects are in police custody and five motorcycles seized regarding the Wangari Maathai Road incident.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had ordered a nationwide crackdown on all boda-boda operators which was on Saturday suspended by National Police citing ongoing consultations with stakeholders.
Police said this will pave way for an imminent overhaul of the entire sector which is being conducted by the multi-sectoral committee tasked with the exercise.
“Enforcement of compliance of traffic law by public transport motorcycles aka boda boda crackdown has been suspended,” the police service said on Saturday.
“This is to give room to the government to reorganise the sector through a multi-sectoral committee working on a framework of implementation.”
Police spokesman Bruno Shioso, however, warned that the existing prohibition of boda boda riders from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) is still in force.
Besides the crackdown, Kenyatta also issued a directive to register all motorcycles.
