Gideon Moi cleared to defend his Baringo senate seat

Baringo Senator Gideon Moi will defend his seat in the August 2022 poll after being cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Moi says he will use the Kanu party and is optimistic that he will retain his seat.
“I am delighted that I have been cleared to defend my seat for the third time, and I am looking forward to having a good and vigorous campaign and earning again the trust of great people of Baringo County,” he told journalists after receiving his certificate from the county returning officer.
Moi had kept the country guessing about his next move following the move by his party to join the Azimio la Umoja coalition.
He will also be facing opposition from the Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza, which enjoys immense Rift support.
Interesting to note is that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is also set to seek IEBC clearance to vie for the presidency following leaving Azimio.
Kalonzo is scheduled to appear before IEBC on June 4. United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential aspirant William Ruto is also set to appear before the commission on the same date.
Raila Odinga, the Azimio presidential candidate, has his date with Chebukati on June 5.
