Former CS Florence Bore nominated as Ruto shakes up Foreign Service
Another plum appointment is that of Maurice Odhiambo Makoloo as Kenya's High Commission to London, United Kingdom
President William Ruto has made major changes in the Foreign Service affecting 20 diplomats, the highlight of which is the nomination of former Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Florence Chepngetich Bore to become Kenya’s High Commissioner to Windhoek, Namibia.
She will replace former Michael Sialai, a former Clerk of the National Assembly, who has held the position since August 22, if the National Assembly endorses her nomination.
Another plum appointment is that of Maurice Odhiambo Makoloo as Kenya’s High Commission to London, United Kingdom.
Makoloo, who has been Kenyans Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Vienna, Austria is set to replace Catherine Kirumba Karemu, who has held the position since May 4 last year. She has been redeployed to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to take over from Isaac Njenga.
Makoloo will be replaced in Vienna by Edwin Afande, the Deputy Head of Mission in London, if his nomination is approved by the National Assembly.
Galma Mukhe Boru, who has been Kenya’s ambassador to ambassador to Jakarta, Indonesia, has been redeployed to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, replacing George Morara Orina, who has been moved to Dublin, England.
Former chairman of the Public Service Commission Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri has been nominated as Kenya’s ambassador to Ankara, Turkey, where he will take over from Leonard N. Boiyo, if approved by the National Assembly.
Lucy Kiruthu, the Deputy Director-General, Political and Diplomatic Affairs in the State Department of Foreign Affairs has been nominated as Ambassador to Bangkok, Thailand, where, if endorsed, she will replace Lindsay Kimwole Kiptiness.
Henry Wambuma, the Acting Chief of Protocol in the Department of Foreign Affairs has been nominated to become the new Ambassador to Bujumbura, Burundi to replace Daniel Wambua.
Abdirashid Salat Abdille, who unsuccessfully applied to be nominated as Principal Secretary early this year, has been nominated as the new ambassador to Jakarta, Indonesia, where he will take over from Boru.
Joseph Masila Musyoka, the Deputy Director General, Economic Affairs and Commercial Diplomacy, has been nominated as ambassador to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he will replace Mohamed Ramadhan Ruwange.
Ruwanga has been redeploted to Arusha, Tanzania as Consul General.
Others named as Consul Generals are Jayne Jepkorir to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Judy Kiaria Nkumiri to Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Ruto also taped Mohamed Amin Sheikh Nuh (Berlin, Germany), Kipkosgei Toroitich (Kampala, Uganda), Moni Manyange (Kinshasa, DRC), Geoffrey Eyanae Kaituko (Ottawa, Canada), Suleiman Ibrahim Roba (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) and David Mwangi Karanja (Seoul, South Korea) as deputy heads of mission.
In a statement, State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said President Ruto has submitted the nominations to the National Assembly for consideration, in accordance with the Constitution.
