Former CS Farida Karoney joins Cape Media as growth strategy consultant
She brings decades of experience in both the public and private sectors, with a distinguished career in governance, institutional reform, and media transformation
Former Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney will be the new growth strategy consultant at the Cape Media, which owns TV47, TV47 digital, and Radio 47.
Karoney will spread the strategic and policy changes aimed at positioning Cape Media as a digital-first media house and strengthening its competitiveness in the rapidly evolving media landscape.
A statement released by Cape Media says she will Karoney will also focus on diversifying revenue streams and enhancing the media group’s overall brand strength.
Accepting the post, the former CS has emphasised the need to mold a resilient and future-ready Cape Media brand, stating that the future of media lies in robust strategy, innovation, and digital transformation.
Welcoming her, Cape Media chairperson Simon Gicharu described her appointment as a step in the right direction that will ensure TV47, Radio47, and their digital platforms sustain and accelerate their current growth trajectory.
Karoney brings decades of experience in both the public and private sectors, with a distinguished career in governance, institutional reform, and media transformation.
During former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure, she served as the Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning (Between 2018 to 2022), where she led major land reforms, including the digitization of land records and services.
She has also previously held key leadership roles for different media, including as Chief Operating Officer and Editorial Director at Royal Media Services.
She has also worked with KTN, Nation Media Group, and Al Jazeera.
She holds a PhD in Business Administration (Strategy), an MBA in Strategic Management, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communication, and is widely recognized for her bold, decisive leadership and commitment to excellence.
