Education CS says he remains unbowed by external pressure

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof.George Magoha has downplayed the stripping of his powers by the public service commission maintaining that he will continue delivering his duties as mandated by the president who appointed him to office.

Speaking in Kibera during a school tour to monitor the supply of desks ahead of schools reopening, Magoha noted that his style of management has helped root out rotten behaviors at the ministry and he shall not be distracted by external forces.

Barely a day after the Public Service Commission issued a circular striping of some of the managerial powers from Education CS Prof. George Magoha to the Principal Secretary, Belio Kipsang, the education cabinet secretary is standing unmoved.

“I will stay put into delivering my mandate as bestowed on me by the appointing authority.” he said.

The CS touting his managerial style which he says has helped root out unscrupulous behavior in the education docket and that his focus now was to deal with absenteeism of field officers and misappropriation of funds in the ministry, vowing that laxity will be a bygone at his time in the ministry..

CS Magoha was speaking while on a tour to monitor the supply of 1.9bn shillings desk exercise at Ayany primary school in Kibera.

At the end of the exercise, public schools across the country are expected to benefit from622, 157 locally assembled desks with 5,136 and 5,243 primary and secondary schools expected to receive the supply respectively.
