The Director of Public Prosecution has directed the Inspector General of Police to initiate investigations into Tuesday’s attack on journalists who were covering NASA’s parliamentary group meeting.
DPP Keriako Tobiko says police should immediately probe the incident and ensure that the culprits are brought to book.
A day after journalists protested over the attack on one of their own, Tobiko has directed police to take action against perpetrators of the heinous act.
Tobiko wants the Inspector General of Police to immediately launch a probe into the incident where goons attached to NASA politicians ejected a journalist working for a local TV station who was covering the event, before descending on another working with a different television station who was filming the fiasco.
During the event, the hooligans had singled out several media houses accusing them of being Jubilee mouthpiece.
ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has also condemned the incident assuring journalists of the government’s commitment to protect their rights as enshrined in the constitution.
