CS Murkomen orders arrest of politicians sponsoring criminal gangs
According to the CS, it is after secret meetings between politicians and the gangs that robberies increase
Interior cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has ordered for the immediate arrest of politicians sponsoring criminal gangs in various parts of the country.
Speaking in Kwale during his second day of Jukwaa la Usalama tour in the Coast region, Murkomen stated that they are aware some politicians are sponsoring gangs who are committing the criminal activities in Kwale.
He announced a crackdown for the politicians as he revealed that the political activists hold day and night secret meetings with the said gangs.
“We are looking for those sponsoring the gangs and giving them political support. Whether elected or not we shall ensure that proper law enforcement is taken against them. We are aware that in Kwale some political activists are holding secret meetings at night with the gangs lying that they were trying to help,” he stated.
According to Murkomen, it’s after the secret meetings between politicians and the gangs that there is a rise in robberies.
He stated that investigations are on and those involved will be charged according to the law.
He affirmed that the ministry is in control and will eradicate the gangs.
“After the meetings you’ll always see people being robbed their valuables and criminal activities being on the rise. This is prove that such politicians should be investigated. Investigations are on and those found guilty shall face the law. I want to assure residents of Kwale and Kenyans at large that we are capable of handling the situation,” he stated.
Murkomen put on notice security officers believed to be collaborating with the criminals.
He claimed that some of the criminal gangs arrested are freed while in custody without any bond or cash bail or any explanations being given.
“Those arrested ad taken to court are freed when in custody without bail or bond,” he claimed.
He asserted that the Coast region Jukwaa la Usalama tour will deal with eradicating criminal gangs, dealing with school dropout cases, land disputes and border security
