A Shanzu court has freed two Kenyans who were deported from Turkey on suspicion of being members of Isis in the neighbouring Syria due to lack of evidence.
Shanzu Senior principal magistrate Diana Mochache ordered Aisha Faiz Hyder and Fatuma Mohamed freed after the investigating officer informed the court that the duo had no links to the terror group as earlier indicated by Anti terror police officers.
The two Kenyans were arrested by Turkish authorities while allegedly entering from Syria in November last year after going for training with the IS group.
Investigating Officer David Muriithi told the court that investigations had been conducted on the two and no information or materials related to terrorism had been recovered from them.
“Your honor we have no basis to hold the two suspects any more, since investigations have revealed that they have no connections to Isis,” he said.
At the same time, police have been allowed 20 days to continue holding two more suspected terrorists namely Nasra Faiz and Salim Mohammed.
Mochache in her ruling said that there was need to allow police more time to travel to Turkey in order to establish what necessitated the deportation of the suspects.
