Correctional Services PS Zeinab Hussein moved to Tourism in latest reshuffle
Correctional Services Principal Secretary Zeinab Hussein has been moved to Tourism in the latest reshuffle.
In the latest move, Gender Affairs PS Safina Kwekwe is now taking over as the Correctional Services PS.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has named Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) deputy Director general Kang’ethe Thuku as Correctional services Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).
The move comes after few weeks after the Commissioner-General of Prison Service, Wycliffe Ogallo, was fired.
He was replaced by Brigadier (Rtd) John Warioba.
“His Excellency the President has today appointed and witnessed the swearing-in of Brigadier (Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba as the Commissioner-General of the Kenya Prisons Service,”
Ogallo was fired after three convicted terror suspects escaped from Kamiti Maximum Prison in Nairobi in what security agencies believed to have been a case of abetted prison break.
The escape led to the arrest of 13 wardens and Charles Mutembei, the commandant at Kamiti Maximum Security Prison.
The president further directed the State Department of Correctional Services to begin disciplinary action against all prisons staff who were on duty when the security breach occurred; this includes redeployment and/or immediate suspension of those found culpable.
