A police officer from Kisii Central sub county in Kisii county suspected of killing a telephone technician in Kisii town will undergo a mental examination, a court in Kisii ordered yesterday.
Kisii court Deputy Registrar, Dorcas Mc Andere ordered that Bonface Maobe, suspected of Killing Bramwel Chankuza be assessed at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital and be brought to court on January 7 to take a plea.
The suspect, who was brought to court under tight security yesterday was arrested from his house after an independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) concluded its probe and the Directorate of public prosecution okayed his prosecution.
Maobe is reported to have attacked Chakunza at the police cells and was rushed to Nyanchwa Mission Hospital where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.

Chakunza, who hails from Vihiga county was operating a phone repair shop in Kisii town and had accompanied a friend to Kisii police station to check on his wife who had been arrested.
