Chaos erupt at PCEA Mwiki in botched church storm attempt by a group after Gachagua arrival

Today’s church service at PCEA Miki in Kasarani constituency was momentarily disrupted after a group of youths tried to storm inside the church shortly after former Deputy Rigathi Gachagua’s arrival.
The incident occurred shortly after Gachagua and his entourage arrived for the morning service when a group of unidentified people reportedly tried to force their way into the church, momentarily compromising the safety of congregants.
Gachagua was quickly shielded by his security team, who took defensive positions to prevent the intruders from gaining access.
During the brief commotion, the group could be heard shouting while trying to force their way in, with church members standing in resistance. Gunshots were also heard.
“Let us remain calm, please,” the bishop was heard urging the congregation amid the unrest. Despite the tense moments, calm was restored as security forces dispersed the group, allowing the service to continue without further incident.
Gachagua, accompanied by several political allies, including Members of Parliament and MCAs from his camp, was at the church ahead of his planned national TV interview on April 7, where he is expected to address his supporters and comment on the political developments following President William Ruto’s recent Mount Kenya tour.
Gachagua’s last public appearance was on March 31, 2025, at Wangige Market in Kiambu, where he criticized the government’s performance and urged the President to remain accountable.
He is expected to address his supporters and respond to recent political developments, particularly in light of President William Ruto’s recent tour of the Mount Kenya region.
On his part, the former DP faulted the government for allegedly planning to disrupt a church service where he was attending after goons tried to access the church.
Gachagua noted that it was retrogressive to block him from attending a church service terming the action as unfortunate.
He added that every Kenyan has a right to association and freedom of expression as enshrined in the constitution.
Commenting on the recent weeklong trip by President Ruto tour of the larger Central Kenya region, the former DP reminded the president that no one disrupted his meetings in the region and hence he should be allowed to move across the country without disruption.
He, however, asked his supporters not to respond to the brutal attacks as it was a plan to cause chaos in a bid to postpone the 2027 elections.
