Busy schedule for Ruto in North Eastern comes to a close
This was the last leg of his three day working trip to the northern frontier

President William Ruto’s itinerary up north was busy and a whirlwind one traversing four counties in the space of three days commisoning projects and meeting the people on the sidelines of his working tour.
Today,President William Ruto today commissioned the tarmacking of Isiolo-Kulamawe and Kulamawe-Modogashe roads in Garba Tula.This was the last leg of his three day working trip to the northern frontier.
The 205 – kilometer road upgrade to bitumen standards is part of the governemnt’s plan to connect Isiolo and Mandera thus enhancing access and trade with Somalia and Ethiopia.
President Ruto said the road will boost trade, drive economic growth and also foster integration between communities in the region. The road will traverse Meru, Garissa, Isiolo, Wajir and Mandera counties.
He has urged the residents to fight against poverty by engaging in socio-economic activities that will lead in the development of the area. He says the road will get a transport corridor that will ensure residents engage in business activities that will connect them to various areas and thus help in financial and economic growth for the people in the region.
Ruto also added that KSh.615m has been set aside in order to help in addressing the issue of electricity. He said that KSh.300 million had been set aside to help to help in hybridization, in Merti. This is in a bid to improve the electricity reach and infrastructure in the region. He said the region need not left out in terms of development.
The overjoyed residents were also promised a market in the region saying he would allocate the area governor Abdi Guyo KSh.50 million to help with the building of the market and ensure people have a place to sell their goods and profit from it. He also added that Isiolo is a central point and therefore a lot of business take place in the region, hence the need for markets.
Ruto who also led the residents to the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of the County Aggregation and Industrial park which will provide farmers with access to cold storage, agro-processing and value addition. He said the initiative will “minimize post- harvest losses boost farmers’ earnings and drive economic growth from the bottom up.”
In the days prior,President Ruto accompanied by local leadership visited Mandera,Wajir and Garissa Counties where he held development meetings.
