Be extra cautious during long holiday, Health PS Muthoni urge parents

Data in shows that the children are susceptible to peer pressure and it being a long holiday, there are vices

Parents, especially those of teenage children have been called upon to be extra vigilant of their children over the long holidays.

According to Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni, data in their possession shows that the children are susceptible to peer pressure and it being a long holiday, there are vices.

The PS is now calling on the church and community leadership to come up with activities that will keep the young ones busy, noting that there is also a danger of pregnancies during this period.

She also notes the dangers of drugs and substance abuse at a time she’s accusing manufacturers of modifying their products, making them more attractive even to the young ones.

On hygiene, PS Muthoni wants community health promoters to amplify the message on a clean environment, saying the rainy season comes with various diseases that bring water borne diseases.

Consequently, there is a call for inspection of all meat to be consumed during the festivities, warning of no consumption of uninspected meat.
