Tourism Cabinet secretary Najib Balala has assured tourists in the country that they are safe and secure during this election period.
Speaking yesterday at Diani within Kwale county during the 15th annual tourism symposium whose theme is ‘sustainable tourism for development’ Balala said election season is within a short period of time that the government will not allow it to interfere with the safety of the tourists who are coming in the country for the benefit of our economy and development.
“The high season has started and already we have international tourists who are coming for the wild beasts migration watch happening at Maasai Mara national reserve, therefore, we want them to feel free and secure to enjoy each second of their time and holiday,” said Balala.
He also said they have already cautioned politicians on uttering any statements that will lead to incitement to violence during their political rallies for the sake of the country’ economy.
“Politicians need to be very careful during this time since Kenya belongs to all of us its not for Uhuru Kenyatta alone therefore everyone should preach peace during this season,” he insisted.
