Akasha-linked duo charged over Westlands assault, death threats

Two men linked to the crime haunted family of the late Kenyan drug lord, Ibrahim Abdalla Akasha who died on May 3, 2000 have been charged before a Kibera Law Courts with threatening to kill and assault causing bodily harm following an incident in Nairobi’s Westlands area.

The accused, Rahiel Daud and Hitesh Motwani, also known as Vicky and said to be associated with Executive Car World, appeared before Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate Zainabu Abdul, where they denied both charges.

According to the prosecution, the two allegedly committed the offences on March 25, 2026, at Taal Club in Westlands within Nairobi County.

The court heard that they threatened to kill one Arya Anuj without lawful excuse.

In the second count, the prosecution told the court that the duo assaulted the same complainant, occasioning him bodily harm.

Both accused persons pleaded not guilty and, through their lawyer, applied to be released on lenient bond terms.

The defence argued that they were not a flight risk and would comply with any conditions set by the court.

“Your honour, we pray for the release of the accused persons on lenient cash bail since they are not a flight risk,” the defence submitted.

The prosecution did not oppose their release on bond but urged the court to take into account the seriousness of the charge of threatening to kill.

The state also requested that a probation report be prepared to assess the accused persons’ background and their standing within the community before bond terms are set.

Additionally, the prosecution asked the court to impose restrictions preventing the accused from leaving the court’s jurisdiction.

The court also heard allegations that the two may be involved in fraud and extortion activities, although these claims were not part of the charges before the court.

In her ruling, Magistrate Abdul directed that the two be detained at Parklands Police Station until Monday, March 30, 2026, pending the preparation of a pre-bail report that will guide the court in determining appropriate bond terms.

Earlier, the defence had sought to defer the plea-taking process, claiming that the accused were forced to record statements behind a building at Capitol Hill Police Station.

They also argued that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) should review the charges to determine whether they meet the required legal threshold.

However, in her directions, the magistrate dismissed the application, noting that charge sheets presented before court originate from the Office of the DPP after a review of investigation files and a determination that there is sufficient basis for prosecution.

The matter will be mentioned on March 30, 2026, for further directions on bond.
