Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has today undertaken an inspection tour of the Sh250 million revamped Nyambene New KCC milk cooling plant.
The facility whose construction was launched by the President Uhuru Kenyatta in February 2020 has a holding capacity of 100,000 litres.
The plant will serve dairy farmers from five of the nine sub-counties in Meru County that include Tigania East, Tigania West, Tigania Central, Igembe North and Igembe South.
The facility is also expected to create jobs for the youth in this area.
In addition, the CS handed over 1000 straws of semen to dairy farmers and Kitchen garden starter-kits to schools and farmers’ groups to achieve 100 per cent food and nutrition security.
