The Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital ( MTRH ) Chief Executive Officer Dr Wilson Aruasa has allayed fears that the management has resorted to hiring the services of in-experienced and unqualified nurses to offer services following the industrial action by over 800 heath workers.
Aruasa reassured their clients that they will be attended to by well trained and qualified nurses contrary to claims by the Kenya National Union of Nurses MTRH branch officials that they were risking the lives of patients visiting the hospital for treatment.
Speaking to the media in his office today, Aruasa clarified that some of the paramedical staff working at the hospital have volunteered to offer services to address the health crisis.
Aruasa said the hospital management has resolved to pay them enhanced allowances on top of their salaries as a sign of appreciation for their good services owing to the biting nurses strike.
“Contrary to the nurses union officials claims, we have indeed engaged the services of well trained and qualified nurses from within to handle patients seeking treatment at the facility,” assured Aruasa.
